Solarif Risk Management - Quality control of solar panels

Bill of Material (BOM) Verification

The Bill of Material in the PV sector is an extensive inventory list of certified materials needed for manufacturing PV panels. It details all components, quantities, purchase dates, costs, product codes, and manufacturer specifications. Any changes in materials require updating the BOM.

Solarif’s Risk Management team collects documentation and verifies the authenticity of these materials with the Constructional Data Form (CDF) to ensure only certified components are used.

Constructional Data Form (CDF) Check

A CDF is a comprehensive dossier listing all raw materials, components, design, and label information for a product. For PV panels, a CDF is created during certification by an accredited body per IEC 61215 standards. Manufacturers must use the listed components to maintain certification.

Solarif’s team ensures your solar PV modules meet certified specifications, preventing non-conformities through checks on label markings, weight, cable length, and module dimensions.

EL Imaging

EL imaging peers into the cells of a PV module to locate structural defects, such as cell cracks or snail trails.

Solarif’s team ensures modules meet quality standards by reviewing EL images to detect and tabulate defects like cracks, micro-cracks, and wafer pollution.

This test is performed before and after lamination to replace defective cells.

Visual Inspection

Visual inspection identifies visible defects in PV modules, preventing future failures. This quick, effective method is repeated multiple times to ensure thorough testing.

Solarif’s team detects major defects like scratches, damaged glass, solder joint flaws, back-sheet cuts, encapsulant yellowing, laminated debris, frame sealing gaps, hot spots, or chipped cells.

I-V Measurement Test

The I-V measurement test evaluates the output performance of PV modules, checking parameters like Voc (open circuit voltage), Isc (short circuit current), Pmax (maximum power output), and Vmax (voltage at maximum power).

Solarif’s team ensures modules perform according to rated power through calibration of solar simulators, tolerance checks, and adherence to Standard Test Conditions (STC).

Packaging & Loading Inspection

Solarif’s final check verifies packing, loading, and sealing of containers to meet their standards. This includes serial number scans, packing material checks, label verification, pallet dimensions measurement, and loading supervision. Solarif’s team remains on-site to ensure your modules are packed and loaded securely.
