Why is the VRKI important?

For many insurance policies, it is a requirement to implement security measures tailored to the VRKI risk class of your business premises.

The VRKI assesses the burglary risk and provides a clear view of the security measures needed for your specific situation.

Recommended security measures based on VRKI:

  1. Mechanical Security
Think of quality locks, reinforced doors, windows with burglary-resistant glass, and anti-burglary provisions.
  2. Electronic Security
Install alarm systems connected to a control room, CCTV systems, and access control such as keycards or biometric systems.
  3. Surveillance
Depending on the risk class, 24/7 surveillance by a security company may be required.
  4. Physical Barriers
Place fences, barriers, or other obstacles to prevent unauthorized access to the premises.
  5. Value Storage
For businesses with valuable goods, certified safes or secure storage areas are necessary.

Who is responsible for the VRKI (Improved Risk Classification)?

The “Verbeterde Risicoklassenindeling” (VRKI) is managed by the Stichting Nationale Inbraak Preventie Weken (NIPW) in cooperation with the Centrum voor Criminaliteitspreventie en Veiligheid (CCV). The CCV is responsible for drafting, managing, and updating the VRKI.

On the CCV website (www.hetccv.nl), you can find extensive information about the VRKI, including the latest version and related documents. There is also a handy VRKI tool available, allowing companies to easily calculate their VRKI risk class.
